Toilet Paper Fire Causes $20K in Damages

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District dispatched firefighters to Deer Valley High School.


Contra Costa County firefighters responded to a one-alarm fire Monday morning at Deer Valley High School in Antioch that caused about $20,000 in damages, according to a fire protection district spokesperson.  

The fire was reported in the 4700 block of Lone Tree Way at about 7:30 a.m., according to public records. Four fire engines, two battalion chiefs, and the Antioch Police were sent to the scene to investigate  The fire was extinguished when they arrived, said Robert Marshall, CCCFPD spokesperson.  

A fire investigator determined the blaze began in a trashcan in the boys bathroom. Someone set a roll of toilet paper on fire. No injuries were reported. 

The fire is under investigation.
