Discounts Offered for 2 Popular Concord Day Camps

The City of Concord is offering parents an opportunity to save 15 percent on registration fees for two popular summer day camps – Backyard Explorers and “All That and Then Some.”

Backyard Explorers is for students in first through sixth grades. The program takes place at Markham Nature Park where children can go fishing in a creek for crawdads, enjoy dynamic nature hikes, and participate in team sports and special events such as Amazing Race, Water Olympics and Survivor. 

The group also takes weekly trips for swimming, bowling and picnic BBQs as well as to Bay Area attractions. Hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Extended hours are available.

“All That and Then Some” is for middle school students ages 11 to 14 and meets at Willow Pass Center, 2748 E. Olivera Rd. Activities include swimming, bowling, kickball, softball, tennis and giant board games as well as art and cooking projects. 

The program features a different theme each week, and the youngsters enjoy a weekly field trip to Bay Area attractions. Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Transportation provided to and from Centre Concord, 5298 Clayton Rd, 7:45 a.m. departure/6 p.m. return)

Those who register for either camp in the month of May will receive 15 percent off the per week cost of $195 for Concord residents/$200 non-residents. The camp runs weekly from June 16 to Aug. 15.
