The Ruth Bancroft Garden is a public dry garden filled with thousands of stunning succulents, cacti, and other drought-tolerant plants.

Ruth Bancroft planted the Garden, adjacent to her home, in 1972 with potted plants from her personal collection. Ruth learned through trial and error how to grow her exotic and often frost-sensitive plants in the highly variable climate of Walnut Creek.

Opened to the public in the early 1990s, the Garden is internationally renowned for its striking, architectural design and its world-class plant collection including rare hybrids.
