Great that's all we need a zillion drunk and drugged bums at the park on farmers. Real smart.

yes, but it doesn't have to be done at Farmer's Market. There are 6 other days of the week to doRead More homeless outreach. Why not visit the various encampments or shelter. The market is a huge draw but one way to ruin it and like it or not people will not come if they see drunks/druggies everywhere. Not PC I know but a reality.

I don't welcome this center's closure, but I am hoping it will be moving away from downtown WalnutRead More Creek. Unfortunately, it brought even more homeless into the area. Isn't there a better place to serve Concord's growing homeless population?

Thanks for all the supportive comments and interest in the mission of the RCC! James, we may lookRead More expensive but we actually negotiated a five year lease at a lower rate than our rent in our old location. Being back in Central Concord makes RCC more accessible for people who use public transportation and raises the visibility of the Rainbow Center. Also, the Thrift store is supported by an MHSA grant through the Innovations component of MHSA. According to the state MHSA website: "Innovations are defined as novel, creative and/or ingenious mental health practices/approaches that are expected to contribute to learning, which are developed within communities through a process that is inclusive and representative, especially of unserved and underserved individuals." We think the Thrift Store is meeting its purpose of reaching out to underserved LGBTQ young adults who are in need of mental health support and empowerment. I would LOVE to donate - used to 4x a year until I lived in Europe for a while. Now the Red CrossRead More doesn't want my blood because they think I might have mad cow disease. It's a shame too - I've got the good old, common stuff that they always run low on. When is the Red Cross going to change their rules requiring people living outside the country for a while?

I wouldn't expect that to happen anytime in the foreseeable future.
