Central County Homeless Outreach will be working with the homeless population in downtown Concord on Thursdays throughout the summer thanks to a $4,000 grant from the Brenden Mann Foundation. Brenden Theaters in Concord is part of the Brenden company.

“We try to be good friends and neighbors," said Johnny Brenden, President of the Brenden Mann Foundation, as quoted in a press release. "Partnering with local non-profits to help strengthen the community is our top priority. Homelessness is a problem that has grown over the past several years and this is one way the Foundation can help people facing it receive the resources they need to overcome it.”

According to non-profit homeless outreach organization, outreach workers will meet with the homeless and offer shelter, medical assistance, meals, laundry services, counseling and more with the aim of helping them off the streets and back into the mainstream community.

Doug Stewart of Central County Homeless Outreach said he his grateful to the foundation for assisting during an important time of year in downtown Concord.

"As the summer approaches, the Farmer’s Market and Concert series will start shortly and many of the homeless will be downtown," said Stewart. "It provides the perfect opportunity to meet with individuals, find out what their needs are and assist them in getting the help and resources to end their ongoing struggle to get off the street”.

Central County Homeless Outreach is an IRS 501.c.3 charitable organization and the only agency within Contra Costa County that can assist the homeless after 4 p.m. daily.

The Brenden Mann Foundation grew out of the family foundation created by Mr. Ted Mann, theatre entrepreneur and grandfather to Johnny Brenden, who passed away in 2001.
