Summer is nearly upon us! Blistering heat. Unfortunate tan lines. The overwhelming urge to devour as much frozen yogurt as possible... wait, maybe thats just me. (I recommend the Watermelon Sorbet over at Sweet Tart!)
But it can cost a lot to revamp your wardrobe... but it doesnt have to!
This Summer, its all about pastels & neons! And if there is one thing thrift stores have... its plenty of vibrant hard to find colors. Everywhere you look you are seeing vibrant color. Mints and oranges are popping up on every clothing rack. Whether you go bold with a vibrant top, or simply add a touch of color with a cute skinny belt or clutch... dont shy away from these crazy colors.
Some Tips:
- Try dying them! Take your favorite thrift store item and give it new life! Depending on the type of fabric you find, there are plenty of options. Rit makes a fabulous range of fabric dyes suitable for cottons and linens... but if you enjoy synthetic fabrics like me, pick up some Dylon (available at Joanns)!
- Want to turn your old leather clutch into a fashion statement, use spray paint. (But allow extra time for it to dry!) Slap a coat of paint onto your favorite belt... purse... bulky jewelry!
- When working with black and white prints, this is your chance to pick up an obnoxious color accessory! Perhaps that leather clutch that you painted mint?
- Oversized statement jewelry is a must. Especially when wearing a fun print. Chunky gold pieces are great this summer!
- If you are able to find satins in light colors, another fabulous item to Dye! Remember those bold colors! A Coral satin top with oversized gold jewelry... picture it. You know you want it.
Always Thrifty (in mint!), Jimmy
