Labor Day Weekend: Gas Prices Will Be Higher

Prices in the East Bay have gone up 4 cents a gallon in one week

You'll need a couple dollars extra to fill up your tank if you're driving out of town this Labor Day weekend.

In California, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is now $4.16, up from $4.13 a week ago and $3.81 a month ago, according to the California State Automobile Association.

In the East Bay, the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular has risen to $4.18 from $4.14 last week and $3.79 last month.

In Concord, the cheapest prices listed on the website gasbuddy.com are $3.99 per gallon at Costco on Detroit Avenue and the nearby Arco station.

This is the highest Labor Day weekend gas prices on record. Analysts say the prices may edge upward during the weekend due to Hurricane Isaac's effect on Gulf Coast refineries.
