0:00 — A strong opening quarter for the Eagles. Dougherty Valley came into the game as favorites, being the No. 1 seeded team, playing at home and not losing to a team from California this season, but the Eagles were clearly the better team in the first eight minutes. Let's see if it continues. CV 11, DV 7

Second Quarter

Find out what's happening in Concordwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

7:19 — Ashley Allen with a fantastic layup and was fouled. She couldn't the and-1 though. CV 13, DV 7

5:00 — DV is starting to dominate the offensive boards and it's paying off. Two put backs and the Wildcats are only down two. CV 13, DV 11

4:22 — The teams look even. Both are committing too many turnovers, but if CV can settle a little on offense they could easily win this game. CV 15, DV 13

2:30 — Back-to-back 3-pointers for the Wildcats and they have their first lead of the half. Can CV take the lead by half? DV 24, CV 19

0:00 — Dougherty Valley showed why its thought to be the top Division II team in the area in the final minutes of the half. The 3s started raining in and the lead was as much as eight. But, at the buzzer, Molly Kommer sunk a 3 to make it a five-point game. Two keys for the Eagles in the second half: 1. Defensive rebounds. 2. Cutting down on turnovers. DV 27, CV 22

Third Quarter

5:45 — Another 3-pointer for DV. Clayton Valley has gone to the zone in the second half to protect the bucket. But it might have to change out of it if the 3s keep falling. DV 30, CV 22

3:50 — Just...like...THAT. CV needed to respond and they did. Allen with a couple buckets and Karley Menez with her first 3 of the game and we have a new team leading. CV 31, DV 30

2:20 — DV isn't going to go down easy, but you do sense a bit of nervousness from the Wildcats. DV 35, CV 33

0:00 — It's going to be close. Alenn started to feel it a little bit in the third. The Wildcats continue to hit 3-pointers. To start the fourth the CV's fans give the Eagles a standing ovation. Deserved. DV 38, CV 35

Fourth Quarter

6:16 — Another 3-pointer for DV. An amazing outside shooting performance. Timeout Eagles. DV 41, CV 37

4:11 — Menez with a jumper to cut the deficit in half. Both teams defenses have forced another turnovers. Both teams look tired, really tired. Digging down deep time. DV 41, CV 39

2:36 — The Eagles are stuck on 39. Two free throw were just missed. Defense is keeping them in it. DV 42, CV 39

2:02 — Molly Kommer with maybe the two biggest free throws of her life. Here we go... DV 42, CV 41

1:35 — DV's Treyvonna Brooks hits a layup and gets fouled but misses the free throw...Gina Del Bene responds with two made free throws. DV 44, CV 43

1:07 — DV's with the ball and a full shot clock. An electric atmosphere here in San Ramon. DV 44, CV 43

:14.6 — CV forces a turnover and Allen had a contested shot on the block for the lead. It didn't fall. Rayven Brooks goes to the line for the Wildcats and makes two. CV rushes down the court and Nelson nails a layup. Timeout CV, their last. DV 46, CV 45

0:00 — DV's Jackie Taylor misses the front end of a 1-and-1. CV goes the down the floor and Menez tries a scoop shot. Misses. Ball falls to Nelson and she goes up with it. Misses. But fouled! With the fans going delirious, Nelson can't convert either free throw. DV wins.

As exciting a finish as you will see. Clayton Valley played a sensational game. Dougherty Valley got everything they could handle and them some. They should feel somewhat lucky its leaving tonight with the section title. Could have gone either way. DV 46, CV 45
