De La Salle boys team cruises to victory while Granada and Monte Vista girls teams win again

League play opened Tuesday night in high school basketball in the East Bay.

The De La Salle boys team showed their strength while both Monte Vista and Granada girls teams continued their winning ways.

EBAL Boys

De La Salle 66  Amador Valley 28

The Spartans crushed a good Amador Valley High team in their league opener. De La Salle is now 10-1 on the year while Amador Valley falls to 8-5.

Dublin 71 Dougherty Valley 51

Dublin High had a surprisingly easy time with their rivais in this league opener. The Gaels are now 9-5 on the season while Dougherty Valley falls to 10-4.

Granada 59  Foothill 50

Granada High edged its rival from the neighboring town in their league opener. Granada is now 9-3 while Foothill drops to 4-9.

Monte Vista 59  Livemore 43

The Mustangs cruised to victory in their league opener. Monte Vista is now 8-4 while the Cowboys fall to 5-7.

California 55 San Ramon Valley 46

The Grizzlies earn a victory over the Wolves in their league opener. Cal is now 7-6 while San Ramon Valley is 5-8.

DFAL Boys

Concord 91 Mt. Diablo 61

The Minutemen sailed to victory in their league opener. Concord is now 10-4 while Mt. Diablo slides to 3-10.

Las Lomas 51 Acalanes 45

The Knights edged Acalanes High in their league opener.  Las Lomas is now 9-4 on the season.

College Park 60  Ygnacio Valley 13

College Park High crushed winless Ygnacio Valley High in their league opener. Ygnacio Valley, which scored only 3 points in the second half, fall to 0-14.

Non-League

Berean Christian 72 Clayton Valley 48

The Eagles cruised past Clayton Valley. Berean Christian improves to 9-5 while Clayton Valley falls to 8-4.

EBAL Girls

Granada 50 Foothill 36

Granada High continued to roll in its league opener. Granada is now 11-2 on the season while Foothill drops to 5-6. Granada plays a tough Amador Valley team on Friday night.

Monte Vista 56  Livermore 38

Monte Vista likewise cruised to a league opening victory. The Mustangs are 11-2 while the Cowboys fall to 7-6. Monte Vista plays defending champs Carondelet High on Friday night.

Cal 46 San Ramon Valley 42 (OT)

California High edged San Ramon Valley in overtime in their league opener. Cal is now 5-8 while SRV High falls to 7-6.

DFAL Girls

Dougherty Valley 45 Dublin 41

Doughtery Valley edged its league rivals in their league opener. Dougherty Valley is now 8-6 while Dubin falls to 8-4.

Concord 58 Mt. Diablo 41

Concord cruised past Mt. Diablo in their league opener. The Minutemen are now 6-9 while Mt. Diablo is 2-9.

College Park 75 Ygnacio Valley 23

College Park crushed winless Ygnacio Valley in their league opener. Ygnacio Valley is now 0-12 on the season.

Acalanes 60 Las Lomas 44

Acalanes had a relatively easy time in their league opener. Las Lomas falls to 8-7 with the loss.

MVAL Girls

Newark Memorial 50 Kennedy (Fremont) 38

The Lady Cougars earned a 12-point victory in their league opener. Newark is now 8-7 oh the season.

Mission San Jose 41 James Logan 32

Mission San Jose scored a 9-point victory in this league opener. The Lady Colts fall to 7-7 with the loss.

Non-League

Berean Christian 64  Clayton Valley 60

The Eagles edged their rivals from Concord. Clayton Valley falls to 5-9 with the loss.

No real surprises with local high school basketball team results. Zamora draws his first technical foul of the season in the Monte Vista season opener, and Karczewski comes up short for SRV, again.
