De La Salle's Bob Ladouceur Named 'Coach of the Year' By MaxPreps

Ladouceur finished his 34-year career at De La Salle with a 15-0 season.

Concord's famed high school football coach, Bob Ladouceur of De La Salle, has been named the "2012-13 Coach of the Year" by the high school sports news website, MaxPreps.com.

MaxPreps says Ladouceur is stepping down "just at the right time for the good of the program" after his 27th perfect season since he took over the De La Salle Spartan football team in 1979.

Despite having lost three-year starting quarterback Bart Houston to graduation as well All-American linebacker Michael Barton, Ladouceur led the Spartans to a fourth-straight California Open Division championship. The team finished No. 4 in the final MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Rankings and No. 1 in the MaxPreps computer rankings

Ladouceur leaves De La Salle with more perfect seasons than losses.

Justin Alumbaugh, 33, the team's 13-year line coach, will take over as coach of the De La Salle Spartans next season while Ladouceur remains on staff as the running backs coach.
