De La Salle Star Running Back Now Plays Rugby at Cal

UC Berkeley's The Daily Californian shines the spotlight on Spartan record-setter Lucas Dunne.

He went from rushing 376 yards his junior year to running an impressive 2,034 and scoring 40 touchdowns by the time he led De La Salle to the CIF Division I title of the 2010-11 season. Now, according to UC Berkeley's student-run paper, The Daily Californian, Lucas Dunne is "a freshman buried in the depth chart of the Cal rugby team."

Despite success in the high school field, Dunne only received two college football offers: North and South Dakota, according to the Daily Cal's Connor Byrne.

Find out more about Dunne's decision to turn down college football in favor of making his name known in the rugby field and his new-found love for the sport directly from The Daily Cal.
