Concord Student to Swim for USA in Istanbul

Chelsea Chenault, age 17, of Carondelet High, qualifies for relay in short course world championships.

Chelsea Chenault, 17, a Carondelet High School student who lives in Walnut Creek, has qualified to represent the U.S. in the next big meet following the Summer Olympics in London.

The short course world championships are scheduled for Istanbul, Turkey, in December. Chenault qualified in the 4x200 freestyle relay.

Chenault is in the class of 2013 at Carondelet High School in Concord. She started swimming when she was six, according to her profile on USA Swimming, and she sometimes goes by the nickname "C-Unit." She has two yellow Labs, Leo and Lady.
