A Concord soccer team of teenage boys on Tuesday secured a place in the quarterfinals of the Far West Regionals in Boise, Idaho.
The Diablo Futbol Club 95 boys Under 15 team won 2-0 over Rio Vista FC, the State Cup champions of New Mexico. Next up is the number one ranked team in the land, San Diego Surf Academy.

Diablo FC 95 boys on to Far West Regionals quarterfinals in Boise:
The Diablo Futbol Club 95 boys Under 15 soccer team headquartered in Concord confirmed a place in Friday’s quarterfinals of the USYSA Far West Regionals in Boise, Idaho this morning with a 2-0 win over Rio Vista FC, State Cup champions of New Mexico.
Tomorrow the local squad coached by John Badger faces the #1 team in America, San Diego Surf Academy, in the final game of round-robin play. Diablo FC lost 1-0 to Surf in the semi-finals of the Surf Cup tournament last summer. A win or draw on Wednesday will give Diablo FC the top spot in Flight A while a loss will make them second in the flight. Either way, they will have an off day Thursday and then play at noon Friday in the quarterfinals.
Diablo FC 95 boys are currently ranked #15 in the United States and have been as high as #4 in national rankings. Coach Badger and Diablo FC Director of Coaching Brian Voltattorni are on hand in Boise. Badger is taking his third Diablo FC team (6th time overall) to the Regional quarterfinals. The winner of the Regionals goes to the USYSA National Championships in Phoenix July 27-31.
Diablo FC 90 U17 boys won the Regionals and advanced to the USYSA Final Four in 2008.
The Diablo FC 95 boys U15 team opened play in the USYSA Far West Regionals Monday morning with an 8-0 win over the Oregon champions, Woodburn Arsenal FC.
