Concord High Defeats Clayton Valley Charter For NCS Division II Softball Title

Concord High used good defense and timely hitting to defeat Clayton Valley Charter High, 9-2, and win the North Coast Section Division II softball championship.

The fourth-seeded Minutemen scored three runs in the top of the first and eventually took a 4-0 lead.

Third-seeded Clayton Valley cut the margin to 4-2 with a two-run homerun in the fifth inning. However, Concord put up five runs in the top of the seventh to put the game away.

It's the third time in the past four seasons that Concord High has won the Division II crown. Clayton Valley has never captured an NCS softball title.
