Carondelet High's lacrosse team defeated the top team in the nation to win the North Coast Section Division I title on Friday evening.
The Cougars, second seeded in the tournament, beat top-seeded Amador Valley High, 9-7, to win the championship.
The Carondelet squad improved its record to 21-3 for the season.
Amador Valley is now 21-2. The Dons were the number one ranked team in the state and in the country before Friday's game.
