Boys Soccer: Clayton Valley's Season Ends in Semifinal

Newark Memorial was too much for the Eagles, beating the visitors 4-0.

The Newark Memorial High boys soccer team advanced to the North Coast Section Division I final with a 4-0 home victory over Clayon Valley Wednesday.

The Eagles, which won the Diablo Valley Athletic League, finishes the year 17-6-2.

Newark got goals from Noe Ruiz and Alfreda Navarro in the first seven minutes to take control early. Edward Ramirez made it 3-0 in the 21st minute and Navarro scored again in the second half to put the exclamation point on the win.

Logan Lombana made six saves for the Cougars (23-3). 

Second-seeded Newark will play eighth-seeded De La Salle on Saturday at Dublin High at 7:30 p.m. The Spartans beat Livermore 1-0 in the other semifinal match.
