Baseball: Clayton Valley Hosts Section Championship Tonight

Clayton Valley will face Campolindo for the Division II title tonight.

If it wasn't for a rare June shower this weekend a North Coast Section Division II baseball champion would have already been crowned.

Clayton Valley was going to play for the title against Campolindo at UC Berkeley's Evans Diamond Saturday, but the rain forced the game to be rescheduled to Clayton Valley at 5 p.m. tonight.

Clayton Valley (22-3-1), seeded-second in the 16-team tournament, has defeated No. 15 Montgomery (2-1), No. 7 Rancho Cotate (3-1) and No. 11 Cardinal Newman (1-0) to reach the final.

Not just in the playoffs, but Clayton Valley pitchers have been dominate from the mound all year, compliling a stunning .91 team earned run average.

Campolindo (18-8-1) pulled off an upset to reach the final, beating No. 1 Alameda 2-1 in nine innings Thursday.

The Eagles and Cougars met early in the season, with Clayton Valley winning 4-1 at Campolindo on March 5.
