Accomplishments: Hailey is one girl sports definitely come naturally to. A seasoned pro in both basketball and track, she started off the winter sports season with a bang - making varsity basketball as a freshman.

But Hailey doesn’t have to know a sport to do well at it. As a newcomer to volleyball this summer, it became clear that she had a natural talent for the game. She flourished at open gyms, impressing the coaches enough to be sent up to the junior varsity team.

But that’s not all folks; Hailey also excels in the classroom. A 4.0 student since sixth grade, she plans to, “try to keep a 4.0 as long as possible” during her high school career, hopefully working towards her goal of attending a four-year college.

And she also has a passion for volunteering. A new member of the Public Service Academy at CVHS, Hailey is committed to at least 15 hours of service for the first semester. Luckily, that’s one thing Hailey doesn’t have to worry about. She’s been volunteering for East Bay Animal Rescue and Refuge since mid-summer. Her responsibilities include keeping puppies warm and fed at adoption events throughout the bay area.

So how does she do it? Balancing her commitments can’t be easy, but she’s got a system that seems to work pretty well. “School always comes first” says Hailey, “And the block schedule is nice, because the homework isn’t due for two days...but I try to do it on the day it’s assigned, in case I have a game the next day or something”.

Well, there you have it. Thanks to her hard-work and determined attitude, Hailey Pascoe is one girl to watch out for in the future. Whether it’s sports or academics, she gets it done. But the most important thing Hailey wants other students to know? “Don’t worry about what other people think about what you do”. Words to live by, I’d say.
