Week-long Biotech Summer Science Camp Starts Monday

Sixty high schoolers will attend at California State University, East Bay, Concord campus.

Hands-on learning will be the summer rage the week of July 11 to 15, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, for some 60 incoming junior and senior high schoolers interested in careers in biotechnology and science.

The 8th annual Biotech Summer Science Camp convenes at California State University, East Bay, at the Concord campus, 4700 Ygnacio Valley Road. Taught by industry leaders, scientists and science teachers, the classes include interactive labs and field exploration in the following fields.

  • Biofuels and green energy;
  • Forensic science/crime scene investigation;
  • Disease detection;
  • Stem cell science;
  • Disease control.

Field trips include visits to the Joint Genome Institute and John Muir Health Laboratories, both in Walnut Creek.
