These Kids are Bee Students
MDUSD honors three who scored well in countywide spelling and georgraphy bees.
The Mount Diablo school district trustees honored three students last week who scored well at the recent Contra Costa County Spelling Bee and one who represented the district at the state geography bee.
Among the top 10 in the countywide spelling bee were Monishaa Suresh, an eighth-grader at Diablo View Middle School in Clayton, who placed third; Micalyn Struble, a fifth-grader from Valle Verde Elementary in Walnut Creek, who placed fourth; and Samantha Dumalig, an eighth-grader from Sequoia Middle School in Pleasant Hill, who placed sixth.
Micalyn also was honored for winning her school's geography and spelling bees — the second time she won both.

The top county winner going on to the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., is Kate Anoufrieva, an eighth-grader at Walnut Creek Intermediate.
The Mount Diablo trustees also recognized Alex Cendejas, a Diablo View student, who represented the district at the state geography bee in Sacramento on April 1.
