Mt. Diablo Unified Still in Financial Jeopardy

The list of financially troubled school districts is growing smaller, but MDUSD remains on it.

Even as California's top school official declares that “the worst of the state state school funding crisis is behind us,” Mt. Diablo Unified is one of a shrinking number of school districts deemed to still be in financial jeopardy.

On Monday, the California Department of Education released a list of 124 school districts that may not meet their financial obligations between the present and the 2014-2015 school year. John Swett USD and Mt. Diablo are the only two districts in Contra Costa County on the list. The list from last May included 188 school districts.

MDUSD has a budget of $284 million, according to the CDE.
