Highlands Elementary Gets California Distinguished School Title

Mt. Diablo Unified elementary school is among 387 distinguished throughout the State of California.

Equitable and rigorous education makes Concord's Highlands Elementary School  a 2012 California Distinguished Schools award-winner, according to a Contra Costa Office of Education announcement.

The Mt. Diablo Unified school is among 387 distinguished by state officials for its displaying excellence for all students and progress and for the narrowing of the achievement gap.

Winning schools, according to CCOE, serve as mentors to other schools across the state by sharing best practices, according to the California Department of Education.
