The Music Festival will be held at the Todos Santos Plaza in Concord on Saturday, May 12 from 11 am to 7 pm, admission is free. At 1 pm, Ann Notarangelo of Channel 5 news will present the three best essays on Moms. The winners and their Moms will receive gift baskets from the Todos Santos Plaza Business Association.

The All Area Music Festival will be celebrating Mothers in time for Mothers’ Day. The groups scheduled to perform at the All Area Music Festival include: The Northgate High Wind Ensemble, El Monte Elementary xylophones, Westwood Elementary flutes, Concord High Jazz Ensemble plus two groups, Foothill Middle School Concert Band, El Monte Elementary Glee Club, Song Flute choir from twelve elementary schools performing together, Mt. Diablo High Vocal Ensemble, Sequoia Middle School, and Strandwood Elementary Bell Choir and performances from groups from Clayton Valley High School. The schools in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District have produced top bands in various competitions in marching band, jazz, winter percussions and festivals.

The Mount Diablo Music Education Foundation was formed to raise awareness of the cuts that have hit our music programs, and to solicit donations to support music education for our students. To help encourage elementary students to take music in middle schools, the Music Foundation sponsored and paid for members of the California Symphony to perform for over 2300 5th graders from the school district to attend a special in formance at the Lesher Center for the Arts this March. The students listened to members from the string section, brass section and a percussionist.
