A Season of Bounty: Simple Canning & Preserving

With Garden Director Patrice Hanlon and Chris Watt

There is nothing better than tasting the sweet flavor of tomatoes in the cold rainy days of winter. Canning is a great way to enjoy the fruits of summer. Tomatoes, beans, cucumbers, carrots and many other vegetables can be easily preserved with a few simple tools. Canning is not as intimidating as it looks.

Join Patrice and her husband Chris, who have been canning all their favorite vegetables for over 25 years.  They will help you break through the confusion, and once you know how to can, it's really quite easy, fun and useful. The class will introduce participants to different methods of preserving, with a particular focus on water bath canning.
