CVHS Charter Supporters File Appeal with County Office of Education

Contra Costa Board of Education has 30 days to hold a public hearing on the issue

Supporters of turning Clayton Valley High School into a charter school have formally appealed the Mt. Diablo Unified School District's rejection of their petition to the Contra Costa County Office of Education, a leader in the charter effort said Wednesday afternoon.

The appeal was filed Tuesday, according to Neil McChesney, co-lead petitioner on the appeal and an English teacher at CVHS. Pat Middendorf is the other co-lead.

The County Board of Education has 30 days from the filing of the appeal to hold a public hearing on the issue and another 30 days to make a decision, McChesney said.
