Concord Patch is Looking for Whiz Kids

Plus: Science Fair at Woodside, Parent Ed at El Dorado and two three-day weekends in a row!

Do You Know a Special Kid, Sports Team or Youth Club? Let us Know!

Each week, Concord Patch will seek suggestions from readers for individual kids, youth groups, teens and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments.

We want to hear about these amazing children and teens and select one each week as the Patch Whiz Kid.  Submit your nomination in our comment box below or e-mail the information to Peggy.spear@patch.com. Be sure to include the following information:

No School for Next Two Mondays
The February holidays hit next week and all MDUSD schools will be closed Monday for Lincoln’s birthday and Monday, Feb. 21 for President’s Day.

Woodside Hosts Science Fair Tonight
The annual Woodside Science Fair will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Woodside Multi-use Room. A random selection of the projects will be shown at the District Science Fair Feb. 19 at the Willow Creek Center.

Parent Ed at El Dorado
Thursday is the latest in a series of Parent Ed classes sponsored by the Parent Faculty Club at El Dorado Middle School. The interactive workshops for parents and community members are based on Fred Jones’ Tool for Teaching (Parent Edition), which will teach parents the same management techniques that teachers at El Dorado are using in the classrooms.

There will be refreshments and a Spanish interpreter available. These workshops are free to anyone—you don’t have to be an El Dorado parent to attend and you don’t have to have attended prior workshops. 7-8:30 p.m in the El Dorado library. Future workshops are March 9, March 30, April 13, May 11 and May 25.

Do you have any school events you’d like us to feature? E-mail Concord Patch editor Peggy Spear at Peggy.spear@patch.com.
