Concord High Students to Trick-or-Treat for Donations to the Food Bank

Teams of students will be trick-or-treating to "scare away hunger" 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on the north side of Clayton Road in the second annual Tesoro food drive.

Most kids trick-or-treat for candy at Halloween, but students of Concord High are changing it up this year and asking for healthy food items and cash. The donations will be given to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano for distribution to families in need.

The costume-clad students will head out between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. to the neighborhoods on the north side of Clayton Road, bordered by Farm Bureau Road and Bailey Road. Residents in the area should have received a paper bag to fill for the food drive.

Tesoro is planning to match the pounds of food and monetary donations up to $5,000 for the food bank, and also make a donation of $5,000 to Concord High School for programs in need of financial support.

Concordians are also invited to drop off a bag of food at the food bank truck parked at Concord High (4200 Concord Blvd, Concord) from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Halloween, Oct. 31 and help "scare away hunger."
