Clayton Valley Charter Accepting Governing Board Applications

The nine-member governing board will be elected Sept. 1.

It's not official yet, but  charter planners are pushing forward as if Clayton Valley will convert to charter school for the 2011-12 school year.

Candidate applications are currently being accepted for Clayton Valley Charter High School's governing board. The nine-member elected board will be in charge, among other things, of selecting the executive director of the school.

The nine board members will consist of:

(2) Parents
(2) Community members at large
(1) Retired teacher
(1) Administrative

The board is voted in by Clayton Valley teachers. The candidate application deadline is Aug. 25 and the vote will be on Sept. 1 in the Clayton Valley multi-use room.

For the conversion from a public high school to a charter school to become a reality, the charter still needs approval from the Mt. Diablo Unified School District Board, which is expected to vote on the proposal at its Sept. 13 meeting. If rejected, their decision can be appealed
