Carondelet High School Seeks New President

The former president, Jennifer Martin, died suddenly in April.

Concord's Catholic school for young women is looking for a new president to start in July of 2014 following the death of its former president this past April.

Jennifer Martin, 46, started her first year at Carondelet High School in the summer of 2012 and died less than a year later on April 15, 2013 at her home in San Jose. The board of directors of the school appointed Sister Ann Bernard O'Shea as the school's interim president following Martin's death.

A new president is due to take over in July 2014 and Carondelet has launched the search for a "visionary leader." The school has an enrollment of 800 students and a tradition of "Christian community, innovation," and the "pursuit of excellence," according to the school's job listing.

The new president will be the sole employee of the board of directors and responsible for the management of Carondelet High School as well as leading the school in "developing, implementing, maintaining, and monitoring an excellent academic and co-curricular program."

Candidates are expected to be practicing Roman Catholics with "a demonstrated capacity for broad institutional leadership" and "demonstrated success in major gift fundraising."

"The President will appreciate and understand the importance of a holistic Christian education for young women and will relate to students, be visible to them and be with them on a regular basis," explains the job description.
