Fremont has its AutoMall row. Antioch has its Auto Center exit. Concord may be headed for Auto Market Way. Or some such.
Concord city staff is looking into the possibility of naming a street that draws attention to the city’s profusion of auto dealers.
At a June City Council meeting, Vice Mayor Ron Leone suggested Market Street and Burnett Avenue as candidates for a name change. He said he had spoken to representatives of auto dealers and the Concord Historical Society about the idea.
In referring the matter to city staff for analysis of the idea, Mayor Laura Hoffmeister said the city needed to take into account complications arising from businesses on the renamed street having to change bank accounts, federal filing forms and other documents.
