Pierce Responds to Meriam, Says She's Close But Not Too Close

Pierce says that she is close to the proposed Clayton Community Church project in downtown Clayton, but is more than 500 feet.

After reading Ted Meriam's , councilwoman Julie Pierce said that she didn't believe in debating these types of issues in the press, but that Meriam's blog needed some clairification.

In an email, Pierce wrote:

"Close" may be good for the game of horseshoes, but it has no relevance when applied to the Political Reform Act. Mr. Meriam’s property resides clearly within 500 feet of the church’s submitted land use application for designated parking, and mine does not. The Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) has told me it does not deal with hypotheticals, however, given the local attention his hypothetical situation has caused, I have written the FPPC for a formal advice letter.
