New Center Would Grow Small Business in Concord

City plans to work with John F. Kennedy University on business accelerator center.

The city will consider whether to sub-lease office space at 2151 Salvio St., Suite 350, to John F. Kennedy University for a Concord Business Accelerator Center.

The center has been proposed by the university’s Institute of Entrepreneurial Learning, in cooperation with the Contra Costa Small Business Development Center. The idea is to encourage businesses with great potential for job creation and growth.

The city currently uses the office space for its Engineering Services Division, which is due to move to the Public Works Corporation Yard in the fall.

The agreement would provide free office space to JFK University for the remaining term of the city’s lease through Oct. 31, 2013, while the university would be responsible for the rest of the costs of operating the program, according to the resolution before the City Council.

The council meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Council Chamber, 1950 Parkside Dr.
