The first presidential debate will be held Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. Pacific Time. Join the Central Contra Costa County Patch sites (Concord, Lamorinda, Martinez, Pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek) for a live chat during the debates. Our panelists of influential California Republicans and Democrats will be adding their observations in the Cover It Live blog above.

The panelists are:

• Michael Barber - San Mateo supervisor's aide, Democrat

The debate begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday and is expected to run to 7:30 p.m. Incumbent Democrat Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney square off on domestic issues, including the economy, at the University of Denver in Colorado.
