Many Concord City Offices Closed July 1 and 4

Friday, July 1, is one of 13 unpaid furlough days during the year.

City of Concord offices will be closed Friday, July 1, for an unpaid furlough day and Monday, July 4 for , when downtown Concord will see a holiday parade among other events.

As one of several cost-saving measures, city employees are taking 13 unpaid furlough days during the year, which equates to a 5 percent reduction in pay. Offices will be closed for additional 2011 furlough days on Aug. 12, Oct. 7, Nov. 21-23, Dec. 23 and Dec. 27-30.

Offices to be closed include the Civic Center complex (1950 Parkside Dr.), Public Works (1455 Gasoline Alley), Engineering (2151 Salvio St.), the Concord Senior Center (2727 Parkside Circle), and Police Headquarters (1350 Galindo St.). Police patrol and dispatch operations will not be affected by the closure.

Concord Community Pool (3501 Cowell Road) will remain open for lap and recreational swimming. Centre Concord (5298 Clayton Road) and Willow Pass Community Center (2748 East Olivera Road) will be closed except for previously scheduled events and classes.
