How Open Is Concord Government?

This is Sunshine Week across the country where public access to government meetings and records is highlighted.

It's a simple concept.

The public should access to information involving local, state and federal government.

Several journalism-related organizations have organized Sunshine Week this week to draw attention to the facts and the issues surrounding public information and public access.

The California Public Records Act spells out those laws in this state.

Among them are the California Open Meeting Act, which details how public meetings need to be conducted.

There is also the Freedom of Information Act, which describes how Californians can request access to information that has not been made public.

So, the question for Patch readers: How open do you find government at Concord City Hall? Or at your local school district offices?
