The California Association of Food Banks needs your help. The association is launching a statewide postcard campaign in collaboration with the Health and Human Services Network to urge Gov. Jerry Brown to craft a state budget that keeps food banks in operation.
Brown promised to let the voters decide on the tax extensions but the Legislature missed the deadline to place them on the June ballot.
The state money slated for food banks sunset in July and without at least a temporary extension of these funding sources, the alternative is an all-cuts budget that further devastates health and human services programs and puts education spending on the chopping block.
The food banks association is asking Brown to bring to fruition a budget that creates and maintains jobs, preserves our health care, invests in our schools and gets people back to work. If you want to participate in the postcard campaign, contact Tim Shadix at tim@cafoodbanks.org or 510-350-9917.
