Concord Postal Office Packed for Christmas Rush

Difficulty parking and a long line was a common experience for those shipping last minute Christmas gifts Monday afternoon at Concord's main U.S. Postal Office. USPS expected today to be the busiest shipping day of the year.

With only six days left until Christmas, people flocked to Bay Area post offices Monday to get their gifts and cards mailed in time.

Concord resident Jeffrey Roland, 59, said he tried his best to ship his 27-year-old son's Christmas present in time to Iowa as early as possible, but ended up sending it last minute anyway.

"You try, but life keeps you busy," said Roland. "But I think it'll get there by Friday still. At least, I hope."
