Move to replace the 1953 development code aims to attract new business, help local economy.

A replacement to the city's six-decades-old development code was unanimously approved Tuesday by the Concord City Council.

City staff and officials have been addressing the intricacies of changing the city's 1953 zoning regulations since 2010, aiming to bring it up to speed with the city's general plan.

The changes, city officials have stated in previous council meetings, are expected to make it easier for some businesses and commercial tenants to gain approval of certain petitions without having to set public hearings.
