Clayton City Council Denounces MDUSD Board's Charter Decision

The Clayton City Council is urging that the Mt. Diablo Unified School District's board decision on CVCHS be appealed.

The Clayton City Council came out strongly against Mt. Diablo Unified School District board's decision to grant Clayton Valley Charter High School .

Mayor David Shuey put the resolution on the agenda and all four present board members voted in favor (Shuey was absent).

The resolution read:

A resolution condeming the de-facto denioal of the Clayton Valley Charter High School petition by the Mt. Diablo Unified School District's Board of Education, reaffirming Clayton City Council's unanimous support for the charter petition, and urging the charter steering committee to immediately appeal said de-facto to the Contra Costa County Office of Education for approval of the charter for commencement effective the school year 2012-13.
