Boy Scout Honored at Council Meeting

Garret Blatter was recognized for his Eagle Scout Project at the Clayton City Council meeting Tuesday night.

Garret Blatter was present with his parents to receive a certificate of recognition for his Eagle Scout Project at the Clayton at the Clayton City Council meeting Tuesday night.

 “I want to thank the City of Clayton for signing off on my project and providing me with all the necessary materials we needed,” Blatter said. “We installed water stations for dogs and their owners.”

"This is what Clayton is all about,” Vice Mayor Howard Geller said.

Blatter's project , but it proved more work than originally expected.

His initial plan was to use galvanized metal, but when the city told him he needed to use a different metal because it would rust, Garrett was forced to start over.

Even with the setback, Garrett never considered quitting. Becoming an Eagle Scout wasn't the only thing at stake.

"My parents say if I want to drive I first have to get my Eagle Scout," he said with a smile back in January. "That was pretty much my whole motivation."
