BART Parking Fees Going Up At Some Stations: Would An Increase Discourage You From Riding The Trains?

The parking fee at Central Contra Costa County BART stations will remain the same for now, but they're going up in other places.

On July 1, the fee to park at the Dublin/Pleasanton, West Dublin and Castro Valley stations will rise from $1 to $1.50.

On July 15, the fee will also increase to $1.50 at the El Cerrito Plaza, El Cerrito Del Norte, North Berkeley and Ashby stations.

On July 29, it will go up to $1.50 at the Macarthur station in Oakland and to $5.50 at the West Oakland station.

Would an increase in parking fees at your BART station discourage you from riding the trains? Let us know in the comments section below.

BART officials say the fee increase is needed rehabilitate and modernize BART parking structures.

The transit system raises the fee by 50 cents every six months if the parking lot at a BART station is consistently full. If the lot is less than 95 percent full on average, the fee is decreased by 50 cents. The fee at stations, with the exception of West Oakland, will not rise above $3.
