19 Vie to be on Planning Commission

City Council will interview candidates tonight and next Monday.

The Concord City Council will meet tonight to interview the 19 candidates for three open positions on the city Planning Commission.

Because of the number of applicants, the interviews will continue next Monday, March 7.

Many of the applicants are familiar faces, having recently applied for the vacant council position that Dan Helix filled, or had run for city council last November. Two of the applicants, Kevin Costa and Robert Hoag, are incumbents.

The three openings are for two-year terms ending Feb. 28, 2013, at which time the terms will become four year positions. The current opening are due to the expiration of Costa and Hoag’s terms, as well as the election of Ron Leone to the city council. The terms of members Gene Sylls and John Mercurio do not expire until Feb. 28, 2012.

The interviews will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Garden Conference Room at the .
