Woman Taken Into Custody, 3 Kids Unharmed After Eviction Standoff Wednesday in Clayton

A woman was taken into custody this afternoon after an hours-long eviction standoff in Clayton with the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office Civil Unit.

Deputies arrived at 10:30 a.m. to perform an eviction at a home on the 1000 block of Pebble Beach Drive in Clayton, but the occupant refused to open the door and barricaded herself inside the residence, said Director of Public Affairs Jimmy Lee.

Officials learned that three children were possibly inside the residence, and investigators and negotiators arrived at the home and repeatedly tried to communicate with the occupant, he said.

After numerous failed attempts to contact her, deputies forced entry into the home at about 1:30 p.m., and the woman was taken into custody and three children were found unharmed, Lee said.
