Update: Runaway Child Found; Three Men Arrested

by Bay City News

Three men were arrested and a runaway child was found in an Antioch home this morning after a shooting that prompted a lockdown at an elementary school, police said. Police responded around 8:20 a.m. to the area of F and West 13th streets after reports of a shooting in the area.

Police were able to find a house in the 500 block of West 14th Street where witnesses said a shooting suspect had fled. In the home, police found six people and arrested three men for narcotics and weapons violations, vehicle theft and possession of stolen property. One of the three men was determined to be the shooter and a gun was found inside the home, police said. A reported runaway girl was also in the house and taken to the county's Children and Family Services. Police were unable to find any victims from the shooting.

While police were searching for the shooting suspects, Fremont Elementary School, located at 1413 F St., went on lockdown until about 9 a.m., Antioch Unified School District student support services director Bob Sanchez said. School had just begun, Sanchez said, and classes were able to continue without interruption. Nearby schools, Live Oak High School and Antioch Middle and High schools, were also put on "high alert," Sanchez said.

No students or teachers were injured and "at no time was a student in danger," Sanchez said. Anyone with information related to this case is asked to call Antioch police at (925) 778-2441. Anonymous tips can be sent to 274637(CRIMES) with the key word "ANTIOCH" in the body of the text.
