Trial Begins for Concord Man - Grandson Killed by Pit Bulls
A trial for a Concord man whose two-year-old step-grandson was fatally mauled by his pit bull dogs in 2010 began Wednesday in Martinez.
Steven Hayashi, who faces up to 10 years in prison, waived his right for his case to be heard by a jury, the Contra Costa Times reports. The 55-year-old man is on trial for involuntary manslaughter and child abuse. Contra Costa Superior Court Judge John Kennedy will decide the case.
Two-year-old Jacob Bisbee was killed by three of Hayashi's five pit bulls on July 22, 2010.
