Teen Cyclist Suffers Major Injuries During Collision in Pacifica

Police say the bike rider failed to stop for a stop sign and was struck by a car.

A 19-year-old boy from Concord is in critical condition after getting hit by a car on Crespi Drive in Pacifica Monday afternoon.

At approximately 3:05 p.m. the Pacifica Police Department and North County Fire Authority were dispatched to the intersection of Crespi Drive and Escalero Avenue on a report of a car and bike collision.

Upon arrival, officers located the bicyclist, a Concord resident, suffering from serious injuries.

Preliminary investigation into this collision indicates the bicyclist failed to stop for a stop sign and was struck by the vehicle, which had the right of way, according to Pacifica Police.

The bicyclist was transported to an area hospital and was listed in critical condition. Investigation into this collision is continuing by the Pacifica Police Department. The cyclist's name has not been released. 

According to police, the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with officers.
