Photos: Car Crashes Into Telephone Pole, Driver Taken to Hospital

Willow Pass Road had to be shut down during emergency response between 7:30 and 8 p.m.

Willow Pass Road was briefly shut down Monday evening after a single car crashed into a pole alongside the roadway between Lynwood and Highway 4.

"He came off the road, lost control on the loose gravel, swerved across the road way and struck the telephone pole," said Cpl. Jim Nielsen of the Concord Police Deparmtnet.

ConFire crews were on scene shortly after the accident around 7:30 p.m. removing the injured driver from the car. Both front airbags were deployed, but the driver's side of the vehicle sustained significant damage as it smashed into the pole.

The telephone pole, split in two, could be seen behind the car and the cables hung low to about 5 feet from the ground up.
