Car Thief Still At Large After Police Hunt and School Lockdown

Concord High and El Dorado Middle schools were on lockdown Tuesday afternoon after a man crashed a stolen car on Concord Boulevard and attempted carjacking another.

A police search for a car thief put Concord High on lockdown around noon Tuesday. The suspect crashed a stolen car on Concord Boulevard near West Street and then attempted to carjack another before fleeing on foot, according to Concord police. The man remains at large.

Concord High was put on lockdown by police, and El Dorado Middle School voluntarily locked down after being informed of the police activity nearby. The lockdowns were lifted after police searched the area and were unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as a heavy-set Hispanic or medium-skinned male with long dark hair who was last seen wearing a black Oakland Raiders jacket, according to police.
