The initial report was for a subject down with an apparent gunshot wound. The call came at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday.
"Officers determined the victim had not in fact been shot, however, most likely died from a fall," according to a news release from the Concord Police Department.
The victim was not a registered guest at the hotel, said Hilton Concord General Manager Jack Hlavac.
He did not fall from the roof, which was locked and secure, Hlavac said. He landed in a parking lot at the southwest corner of the hotel. At that end of the building there is a covered stairway with cutouts open to the elements at each landing.
