Police Search Concord Fields For Fleeing Suspect

Man ditched car near Highway 242 after vehicle chase that started in Pittsburg Friday night.

Concord police officers helped with a foot search of fields for a fleeing suspect near Buchanan Field Airport and the Walnut Creek channel late Friday night and early Saturday morning.

A vehicle pursuit started Friday night in Pittsburg and ended when the suspect ditched the car near the Concord Avenue exit on Highway 242, according to the Claycord Web site. Concord officers helped Pittsburg officers for about an hour without finding the man, said Concord Police Sgt. Matthew Morrissey.

Police believe the man ditched a stolen car, according to Claycord.

There was no word from police Saturday on whether the suspect was apprehended.
